BackUpdate Due to Weather Conditions
20 October 2023
We have been advised that the River Stour is likely to burst its banks and flood the bridge on the road into Wolverley village. This has happened a number of times before and we have a well-rehearsed plan to ensure students can get home safely at the end of the day.
The following will apply this afternoon:
- Parents should not attempt to drive into the village from any direction, please arrange to pick up from The Lock pub or Memorial Hall/Primary School area. Do not park on the Memorial Hall car park as this will be used by the 9 school buses.
- Students will be walked in small groups through the village and up the road past the church to the island next to Wolverley Sebright Primary School.
- Students who get the bus will be escorted to the buses which will leave from Wolverley Memorial Hall.
- Students who walk home or get a lift will be released by staff from next to the primary school. Teachers will remind students to message you before the end of school to organise a specific pick up point.
- Staff will act as marshals ensuring students cross roads safely.
- After school activities and clubs are cancelled. Detentions are postponed.
- Those Year 7 students who are returning from the Safari Park trip will be dropped at the Memorial Hall at 3.10pm.
- For those of you who travel from the direction of Kinver. Students should notify their teacher and can be collected from the Blakeshall Lane area. Please only use this option if you live in the direction of Kinver and it is absolutely essential. We are advised that Drakelow Lane is flooded so please do not attempt to use this as a route to or from school.
Thanks for your support with this matter. I am very proud of the way students have conducted themselves today. School has been calm and purposeful with students showing a very mature attitude under challenging circumstances. I hope that the weather has not affected you personally and that you have a very pleasant weekend.
