University Taster Day
On Wednesday 5th February Year 11 students currently undertaking GCSE PE and BTEC Sport attended a 'taster day' at the University of Worcester. The day was an opportunity for students to gain an insight in to what it would be like to study a sports course at University. The day started with a session in one of the hi-tech sports science laboratories, where students undertook various fitness tests to see how they compared with each other and to professional athletes. It is safe to say, things got a bit competitive! After a bite to eat, students then had a tour of the St John's campus, including the students union, lecture halls and all of the sports facilities. Finally, students were involved in a student-life talk and Q&A with a current sports science student at the university. Mr Hines, who organised the event had this to say: "We are in sight of the completion of our GCSE and BTEC Sport programmes for year 11 and providing students with practical opportunities to develop and apply their knowledge is priceless. At Wolverley we believe in Ambition Unlimited and that every student has the potential and should be given an opportunity to continue their education at University and beyond. Having the opportunity to experience University life first-hand was great for the students and their feedback following the day has been extremely positive."
