Science Week Dissections

Yesterday for science week we did some dissections of sheep heart, lungs and liver.

Students really enjoyed comparing the different tissue structures in each organ and describing the adaptations to their function. Noting the size of the muscles that ‘tug the heart strings’ was exciting for all.

We had to chance to discuss the environmental impact of meat consumption and also discuss uses for waste resources from animals.

We also had some year 8 students drop in during lunchtime too. The STEM students eagerly explained what they were doing and linked to diversity of living things for British Science week.
