Wolverley has a very active pyramid and we attract students from an increasingly wide range of primary settings. We are confident that our all-encompassing transition programme, unique location, extensive facilities and high academic standards allows students to make the best possible start to their time at Wolverley.
We offer opportunities throughout the year for students in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 to experience the ‘Wolverley way’ through our transition programme. This includes subjects from across our aspirational and engaging curriculum, visits to our animal care centre and ‘A Sporting Chance’, an outdoor education provider who are based on the school site. Students experience a wide range of different activities including tubing, super science experiments, arts workshops, bouldering and trampolining. The activities we provide not only challenge the students but also develop both independence and teamwork. We believe in sparking a curiosity and love of learning in all the students as part of our transition programme.
We strongly believe in the importance of nurturing the whole child and our pastoral team are always on hand to support students during any transition events and when students begin their journey at Wolverley in year 7. This is further supported by our vertical tutoring system, which enables form tutors to build strong relationships to support students and also enables a network of support from all students across all year groups. Furthermore, we have an extensive enrichment programme, catering for all interests and hobbies from sporting activities to Minecraft!
Transition does not finish on day one in September. We support students at every point throughout their Wolverley journey, from their first day to their last! Early in September we hold a camping experience for all year 7 students on our picturesque fields, parents are invited to join students at the start of the evening, to toast marshmallows and to get to know some of the staff that support students through their journey at Wolverley CE Secondary School.
