Department Vision

At Wolverley the Arts enable students to fulfil their ‘Ambition Unlimited’ through developing their self-esteem and respect for the contribution that they and others can make.  We encourage a love for the arts through material that considers complex issues, thoughts, feelings and actions.  We want students to use different forms of intelligence, recognising genius and learning from challenges in order to experience life in all its fullness. We develop pupils understanding of justice by ensuring that they have access to high quality materials. Through the Arts we give pupils the freedom to express their own belonging and understanding of the world and support them to become all that they can be.

Subject Information

Dance is all about expression and creativity and at Wolverley we aim to promote this throughout key stage 3, 4 and 5. All students participate in dance in KS3 and it is an option in KS4 and 5.

Our students regularly perform their work in school assemblies and have the opportunity to take part in school performances and events.

Students develop their self-esteem and become more confident through dance and develop an awareness of the subject that they might not have realised existed.

Team work and cooperation comes into play in dance lessons and students can be seen to develop leadership skills and team work as each term moves forward.

Past Wolverley students have gone on to have careers in dance with a recent ex student having his own dance school where he is enthusing the next generation to follow in his footsteps.
