Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach the end of an extremely successful year I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and wish you all the very best for the summer break. I am delighted with the effort and achievement of our students this year and we will, as always, finish the term with a celebration assembly which will recognise their success, dedication and hard work. This summer we say goodbye and thank you to Mr Cox who leaves us to work as an outdoor education instructor, we wish him all the very best. We also bid farewell to Mrs Hartigan who is leaving teaching to try to slow the pace of life down somewhat, again we wish her all the very best. We also say goodbye and best wishes for a second time to Mr Graham after another year with us teaching geography. In a change to the Senior Leadership Team, Mrs Howard will be moving to Bishop Perowne School in September for a year’s secondment with Miss Hodgetts moving to Assistant Headteacher role in her absence; we wish them both every success. I am delighted to welcome new staff in September: Mrs Barnes, Clerk to the Governing Body; Mrs Childe, Design & Technology Technician; Mr Oakley, Cover Supervisor; Mrs Hanaphy, Teacher of Mathematics; Miss Wilson, Teacher of English; Mr Hines, Teacher of Boys Physical Education; Miss Longley, Teacher of Geography, Miss Price, Teacher of English and Ms Martinez, Teacher of Spanish. I am very proud that the school continues to grow and develop with some fantastic new staff and yet more improvements to the school site planned for this summer including:
New windows and fascias for the PE block.
New flooring and windows for the art block.
New outdoor catering facility which will reduce queueing in The Hub and provide a convenient outdoor alternative for hot and cold take away food.
New outdoor covered eating area for students.
The new term starts for all students on Wednesday, 6th September 2017 at the normal time and we are particularly looking forward to welcoming our new students into year 7. As always we expect students to arrive appropriately dressed in September and I would ask that you be mindful of purchasing school trousers (not jeans) and shoes (not trainers or pumps) as these are the most common areas where mistakes can be made. I am delighted with the overall standard of uniform this year and students tell me they are proud to come to a school where uniform is good and standards are high.
