Department Vision

Our Spanish curriculum at Wolverley allows students to demonstrate their ‘Ambition Unlimited’. Through an ambitious, bespoke curriculum we support all of our students to develop a passion for learning and using Spanish in and out of the classroom.  Our curriculum develops an early enjoyment, love and curiosity for language learning. Learning a language allows all our students to have compassion for themselves and others, understanding the differences and similarities between our own and other cultures enabling us to grow and experience life to the full.

Through learning a language students can experience more of God’s world, increasing social justice, thus unlocking endless opportunities and potential. Our learning journey recognises what can be achieved when we strive to be the best we can be. Through the challenges of language learning, our students have the freedom to grow as autonomous and curious learners and strong individuals developing into the people God created them to be.

Subject Information

Spanish at Wolverley CE Secondary School aims to provide students with the language that can be used in real life, and to provide communication tools for their future lives.

Within lessons, it is our aim to ensure that learning is engaging and to ensure students feel supported to develop the key skills needed for language learning. Furthermore, we aim to instil the enthusiasm to challenge themselves to learn a skill that they can use throughout life.

Students at Key Stage 3 cover a variety of bespoke topics to develop the key skills for language learning of Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening.

Students have many opportunities to see and experience different cultures first hand through the many popular visits available to students in Year 7, Year 9 and Year 11.
