Transition

Wolverley has an active pyramid with the following primary schools:

  • Cookley Sebright Primary School
  • St Catherine’s CE Primary School
  • St Mary’s CE Primary School
  • St Oswald’s CE Primary School
  • Wolverley Sebright Primary School

We also work closely with all of the other local schools which feed into Wolverley, including Franche Primary school and Brindley Heath Junior School, Kinver. Our unique location, extensive facilities and high academic standards mean that we attract students from an increasingly wide variety of primary settings.

Each year, we offer a number of opportunities for students at our feeder primary schools to experience the Wolverley way. These are for years 3, 4, 5 and 6 but there are also a number of schools who visit our animal centre which is based on the school site. The activities we provide are from a variety of subjects and include challenge and team work tasks.

Some Year 6 students find the transition to secondary school more difficult. For these students, we provide further opportunities to visit the school, meet the staff and help them to find their way around.

As part of our Primary Transition Programme, at the end of their first week, our new Year 7 students spend the night camping and enjoying activities to help them settle in to their new learning environment. Parents, students and staff are invited to spend time together enjoying a BBQ whilst pitching their tents.

What our new Year 7 students have to say...

What was the most helpful thing Wolverley did to help you settle in?

"Wolverley held an assembly on the very first day of school. We were informed about some of the things we would get up to. We also had a chance to camp on the first week; it was really fun.."

Has your friendship group remained the same or has it changed?

"I have made new friends along the way. They are all really kind and thoughtful. At first I was a bit shy but I managed to make friends in no time.."

Who do you go to if you are worried?

"Most of the time I don’t have to due to the fact that everyone is like a big family. I have no concerns at all.."

Do you feel supported at school?

"I do feel supported because we have tutor at the end of the day and you can talk to them about any worries or concerns.."
